课程介绍
科学传播已是一个相对成熟的研究议题，但是公众科学传播史（History of public communication of science）却被认为是一个相对趋新而关注较少的领域，它不仅为科学传播研究引入了历史纵深，也为科学史研究者提供了一些重新审视科学与公众文化交互关系的特异视角。本课程将围绕公众科学传播史上的一系列经典议题和新兴思潮展开，探讨从维多利亚时代至今公众如何理解科学的历程。在经典的科学传播史基础上，更侧重于基于科学史、科学文化史角度的考察，试图为学生建立起关于科学传播及其历史的系统化知识体系，通过对科学、文化与社会的互动关系进行批判性反思，扩充研究视野，提升思维能力。
为此，每次课程都将围绕阅读材料和讲授设置一些讨论议题，引导学生参与讨论。在阅读材料方面，由于议题本身的跨学科属性，本课程纳入了三类材料：（1）科学传播实务的原始文本；（2）科学传播相关基础理论；（3）科学史研究，希望学生可以在科普作品品鉴者、科学传播实践者、科学史研究者的多重身份中灵活转换，开展跨学科研究。
Course Introduction
Science communication has become a relatively mature research topic, but the history of public communication of science is still regarded as a relatively new field with less attention. It not only introduces historical depth to science communication research, but also provides some special perspectives for researchers of science history to re-examine the interaction between science and public culture. This course may focus on a series of classic issues and emerging trends in the history of public science communication, and discuss how the public has understood science since the Victorian era. On the basis of the classic history of science communication research, we may pay more attention to the research on the history of science and the history of science culture, try to establish a systematic knowledge system about science communication and its history for students. Through critical reflection on the interaction between science, culture and society, they can expand their research vision and improve thinking ability.
For this reason, each course will set some discussion topics around the reading materials and lectures for the discussion. In terms of reading materials, due to the inner interdisciplinary nature of the topic, this course includes three types of materials: (1) the original text of science communication practice; (2) Basic theories related to science communication; (3) Research on the history of science, hoping that students can flexibly shift their minds among the multiple identities of reviewers of popular science works, practitioners of science communication, and researchers of the history of science, carry out interdisciplinary research.
