本讲摘要

In the burgeoning field of historical studies of climate change, few studies exist that focus on Chinese policy making and US-China scientific interactions in this area, especially in the early years. As an experiment in transnational history of science, this lecture explores Chinese public discussions, scientists’ involvement, and China-US scientific exchanges global warming, global change, and climate change, especially from the 1970s to the early 21st century, featuring the roles of prominent climate scientists such as Zhu Kezhen, Ye Duzheng, Thomas Malone, and Qin Dahe. It argues that international scientific exchanges played a key role in the halting progress on climate change made in the last half century.

主讲人介绍

王作跃(Zuoyue Wang)是一个科学史学者，1986年从中国科学院赴美留学，现任加州州立理工大学波莫纳分校(California State Polytechnic University, Pomona)历史系教授，主要研究美国、中国和跨国近现代科技史。发表中英文著作包括《在卫星的阴影下：美国总统科学顾问委员会与冷战中的美国》和《科技革命与美国现代化》。目前在研究留美华人科学家和中美关系历史。2019年当选为美国科学促进会会士(AAAS Fellow)。
