    The Department of Science, Technology and the History of Medicine welcomes new students in 2022



    On October 15, 2021, the 2021 Autumn Semester Scientific Research Conference of the Department of Medical History of Science and Technology of Peking University was held in the 201 of Jingyuan No.1 Hospital. This conference systematically exchanged the progress of scientific research projects in the past three years, and discussed and arranged the department's recent scientific research work plan. The meeting was presided over by Ms. Zheng Lixuan. More than 30 people, including all teachers, students and visiting scholars, attended the meeting.

    At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Zhang introduced the general situation of the scientific research work of the department in the past three years and the arrangement of the key research topics and academic activities in this semester. Professor Zhang pointed out that for research universities, teaching and research are both promoted, and the development of science and technology since the 20th century has provided a broad space for all the researchers of science and technology history. There are a lot of issues with both academic value and practical significance worthy of in-depth study. Through the participation of some topics and the leadership of teachers with research experience and academic accumulation, Reading and thinking around a number of clear research objectives can help overcome the blank feeling at the beginning, find out their possible growth points, find their interests and advantages, lay a solid academic foundation, and determine the direction of future research. Ms. Zhang also introduced in detail some academic activities that have been successfully organized in the past three years with the joint efforts of teachers and students. She hoped that students could give full play to their initiative and creativity and organize exchange activities such as youth salon and reading club to inspire each other. Actively participate in various conferences and activities organized by the department, and grow together with the department.

    Then Ms. Zhu Yanmei introduced the sources of the projects that have been applied for by the Department of Science and Technology and Medical History, especially the main application channels and time nodes of Chinese Social Science, Chinese Self-Education Science, Humanities and Social Science Foundation of the Ministry of Education, China Postdoctoral Fund, etc., which provided convenience for the teachers and students to prepare for the project application.

    The academic exchange of key topics is an important content of this conference. Cao Qi, Gu Chao, Wang Xin, Zhang Li and other teachers introduced the research plan and progress of the department's recent key topics respectively. It includes the project of "Research on Science of Peking University and the Development Process of Modern and Contemporary Science and Technology in China", the project of "Scientific and Cultural Research Supporting Original Innovation of Basic Science" commissioned by the Institute of Strategic Consulting of Science and Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the "History and Experience Research of the Communist Party of China on Scientific and Technological Independence and Self-improvement" commissioned by China Association for Science and Technology, the "Research on the Innovation and Development of Scientific and Technological Societies" and the "Innovation of Scientific and Technological Self-reliance and Self-improvement" in preparation Ecological Research ". The teachers made a full introduction from the aspects of the topic overview, research methods and routes, the task and the division of labor, etc. The teachers and students at the meeting actively asked questions and participated in the communication.

    At the end of the meeting, Teacher Zhang Li made a summary, hoping that this meeting can help the newly entered teachers and all students to have a comprehensive understanding of the research direction and specific scientific research work of the department, and encourage students to participate in the practice of relevant scientific research topics, "learn and understand scientific research in scientific research".
