Zhou Cheng was born in Zongyang, Anhui province in February 1964. He is a professor and doctoral tutor of the Department of Philosophy of Peking University, the Dean of the School of Health Humanities of Peking University, and the director of the School of Foundational Education of Peking University Health Science Center. His research interests include the history of science and society, philosophy of scientific practice, innovation management and technology policy. He got his Bachelor of Engineering at the Department of Fishery Engineering, Shanghai Ocean University, another Bachelor of Law at the Department of Social Science, Tsinghua University, as well as Master of Science and Doctoral Degree in the Department of Interdisciplinary Science (Research Office of Science History and Science Philosophy) of the Graduate School of Comprehensive Culture, University of Tokyo, Japan. He concurrently serves as the Executive Director of the Chinese Research Institute of Sciences and Technology Policy, the Director of its Scientific and Cultural Commission, the Executive Director of Chinese Society for Dialectics of Nature, the Deputy Director of the Scientific and Technological Methodology Commission, the Executive Director of the China Soft Science Research Association, and the Executive Deputy Director of the Innovation Strategic Professional Committee of Chinese Association of Development Strategy Studies. He was the former Research Fellow of the National Science and Technology Policy Center for Advanced Research in Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo, a Visiting Associate Professor of Waseda University Study Center (Lecturing Course: "The Frontline of Chinese Studies"), adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Education of University of Tokyo (Lecturing Course: "Exercise of History of Science"), Deputy Director of the Center for Science and Social Studies of Peking University, and Deputy Director of the Scientific Research Department of Peking University. He has won the second prize of provincial and ministerial level scientific research achievements, the first prize of teaching achievements of Peking University, and the outstanding humanities scholar award of Peking University.
